House fire on Hughenden Road!

In the early hours of Sunday morning I was awoken by a phone call from my friend Hollie. I missed the call but could see flashing blue lights coming from outside my window so I got up and had a look outside. I could see 3 fire engines and tried to see what had happened. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I turned to the right of my window and saw a massive fire coming out of the house 3 doors down. My first thought was to wake up my house mates and get out of the house! But then I realised this was a silly idea as we weren't close enough for it to be a danger for us. After seeing that it was all under control and we would be fine I went back to bed to then be awoken by a fire-woman asking if the couple from the burning house could sit in the living room as the guy was elderly and could hardly stand up with out his walking stick which was in the blaze. The people were a nice (and slightly crazy) Hungarian couple who had been renting the house for nearly 20 years. They seemed to be in shock but also seemed thankful that they both got out alive. After an hour of talking to them in the living room they then went outside to talk to the fireman and were taken by the ambulance. It was a very surreal Sunday morning and made me think that if my house was burning down and I only had time to grab one thing what would it be. It would definitely be my jewellery box as I have things in there that have sentimental value and would be gutted if I lost them.

The house the next day looked scary. All the smoke had risen to the roof making it collapse so the house was just an empty shell. I know it may seem a bit morbid but the house looked kind of cool with its white decorative pillars now turned to black, but also surreal with how you can lose everything within hours.
